We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Associate/Vice President – Power, Utilities and Renewables (EMEA)
The roles purpose is to support HSBC on providing strategic and financing advice to Capital Markets and Advisory (CMA) and broader HSBC clients. The role involves providing pro-active support in deepening client relationships and improving income generation through focused business development activities, together with leading on mandate executions.

In this role you’ll:
- Support on business origination for clients in the Natural Resources group (with focus on Power, Utilities and Renewables), across the client spectrum including strategics (utilities, energy majors, developers), infrastructure funds, SWFs, etc.
- Contribute to the identification and targeting of new relationships
- Ensure prompt and appropriate response to customer enquiries and internal reporting requirements
- Support senior management in identifying strategies to maintain / enhance overall relationship return and ensure early identification of potential issues
- Develop a strong sectorial/product expertise (financing-led focus in Europe) to support advice to clients
- Engage with relevant product teams - in particular, HIF, LAF, CRS, DCM, M&A & ECM (depending on region) to ensure coordinated approach towards achieving client development objectives
- Identify marketing opportunities, undertaking appropriate analysis and preparation of proposals, presentations and pitches for new products and services
- Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Have an Investment banking, financing, private credit, accounting and relevant educational background
- Relevant sector experience in Power, Utilities and Renewables
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Proficiency in financial modelling and valuation
- Experience with common databases (such as Bloomberg, Factset, Factiva, etc)
- Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, client and products and provide a high quality analysis of risk
- Knowledge of the full spectrum of CMA products and services
- Demonstrate capacity to build a network of contacts, both internal and external, in the context of interactions with colleagues and clients
