This 12-month co-op placement with the Energy Modelling and Sustainability team at MCW Consultants Ltd. is an excellent opportunity for students interested in learning about the growing role of sustainable building and infrastructure policy in development. The student will be responsible for applying tools and techniques to the evaluation of energy performance in commercial, residential and institutional buildings.
Position: Energy Modelling Student
Start Date: January 2026 (options for an 8 or 12 month placement)
Location: Toronto
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Support energy modelling development through analysis of design drawings including take-offs
Create energy models with the support of senior modellers
Perform energy savings calculations and utility analysis for existing buildings
Review building design documentation to determine the feasibility for projects to achieve various sustainability standards, including Toronto Green Standard, LEED, and Zero Carbon Building Standard
Work with internal and external stakeholders on creative sustainable design solutions for projects
Prepare green building-related reports and presentations
Preferred Education & Experience:
Currently enrolled in secondary education in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
