DescriptionSUMMARY
The Senior Manager, HSE manages and champions environmental, health and safety programs for assigned accounts, ensuring ongoing compliance to all internal and external requirements to assist assigned accounts in mitigating and managing environment, health and safety-related risks and improving related performance.
In addition, the Senior Manager, HSE collaborates with the Health, Safety and Environment Director and greater HSE team to audit, develop and continuously improve environmental, health and safety management system and associated tools, processes and procedures in accordance with applicable external management systems.
The Senior Manager, HSE will interface directly with senior clients and may have management and reporting responsibilities beyond their country of residence.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
People Leadership
Demonstrates strong, competent leadership for team members to guide them in reaching their full potential and meeting their objectives, which supports achievement of our corporate goals. Specifically, these responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Provides mentoring, coaching and guidance to all team members

Program Management
- Manages the environmental, health and safety programs and champions a high environmental, health and safety culture for all assigned accounts.
- Provides guidance and support to team members on assigned accounts relative to environment, health and safety matters in accordance to all applicable internal and external requirements. Applies thorough knowledge of related regulations
- Leads the implementation of internal HSE programs for assigned accounts
- Plans, develops and delivers HSE programs in support of the client for all assigned accounts.
- Ensures compliance to client-mandated HSE programs, ensuring all HSE SLA’s and KPI’s are met for assigned accounts.
- Collaborates with account teams to ensure all team members are provided with adequate tools and resources to ensure the safe execution of work
- Collaborates and Coordinates program implementation and alignment across multiple geographies.
- Reporting responsibilities and regular engagement with senior leadership within the client’s organization.
- Takes appropriate action to achieve all targeted HSE objectives for all assigned accounts.
- Supports BGIS registration to applicable environment, health and safety management systems such as ISO 14001, SGAP, COR, CAN/ CSA Z1000, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001 (2018).
- Recommends continuous improvement opportunities, as well as adjustments to processes and procedure in alignment with industry best practice where appropriate.
- Develops hazard and risk specific communication programs for the corporation and clients.
- Develops a team of HSE professionals, mentors and coaches, provides performance management and creates development plans according
Incident Investigation, Resolution & Reduction
- Leads the investigation and resolution of incidents for assigned accounts
- Oversees and conducts root-cause analysis, identifies incident causes, and implements corrective and preventative measures for all assigned accounts.
- For assigned accounts: Oversees and tracks, records, maintains and reports incident data. Identifies and analyzes trends
- Reviews, recommends and implements modifications to work plans, processes, procedures to reduce recurring incidents and improve environmental, health and safety performance
- HSE Managers are responsible for working with line management to address health and safety issues and document these in non-conformance issues. If significant issues still remain uncorrected, HSE managers must escalate these within the HSE Department for further discussion and resolution.
Communication & Training
- Develops and delivers environmental, health and safety training to team members for all assigned accounts
- Develops and deploys environmental, health and safety communication to team members across for all assigned accounts
Compliance Management
- Monitors and enforces compliance to all internal and external environmental, health and safety requirements
- Oversees and/or conducts field inspections, job observations; environmental, health and safety audits and other types of reviews to monitor compliance to environmental, health and safety requirements and to identify risks
- Communicates observations, non-compliance and risks to concerned parties, and provides and implements corrective and preventative measures to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
- Oversees and prepares and submits compliance reports as required, including quality control

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- University degree in Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences
- More than 10 years of environmental, health and safety program execution work experience. Experience in facilities management and working with facilities and project-related MSAs is preferred.
- Expert level knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements.
- Expert level knowledge of environmental, health and safety management systems – ISO 14001, CSA Z1000, OHSAS 18001
- Advanced program management abilities
- Advanced communication, influence and persuasion skills
- Highly advanced ability to champion environmental, health and safety programs and influence concerned parties to achieve environmental, health and safety objectives
- Ability to develop and deliver environmental, health and safety-related training
- Skilled at incident investigation and resolution, root cause analysis along with preventative and corrective measure implementation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external concerned parties
- Strong track record of developing a high performing team
- Superior English writing and spoken. High level of working French preferred. Bilingual candidates will get preference.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional from Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals or
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

- Certified Health & Safety Consultant from Canadian Society of Safety Engineering
This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $93,972 - $117,466 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
