Role Overview
The Corporate Sustainability Analyst is responsible for enabling the timely delivery of Fidelity Canada’s internal and external sustainability reporting. The Analyst will be accountable for both operational and financed emissions calculations and be the superuser of Workiva Carbon, providing critical inputs to ongoing cross-business decarbonization planning, execution and target setting exercises. The role will also help respond to information requests from leadership, clients and other stakeholders and will also help provide data and insight to enable Corporate Sustainability scorecarding, communications and engagement initiatives.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Data Management and Reporting Enablement
- Lead the calculation and management of Fidelity’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory, for both operational and financed emissions (Scope 3, Category 15), including:
- Working with internal and external stakeholders, including the Corporate Real Estate and Information Services team, as well as landlords, to source data, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Developing and maintaining Inventory Management Plans for both operational and financed emission calculation models
- Managing third-party GHG inventory assurance process, leading engagement with external audit firm and providing all information required for testing
- Staying abreast of GHG Protocol methodology developments and incorporate to ensure high-quality, comprehensive inventory
- Lead the onboarding and implementation of Workiva Carbon, a data collection and management platform to help streamline and automate the GHG data collection, analysis and reporting process.
- Lead on developing and maintaining Fidelity Canada sustainability strategy scorecard with, engaging with business on a regular cadence to collect qualitative and quantitative inputs
- Work across the business to prepare regular sustainability strategy scorecard presentations for the Corporate Sustainability Committee and Fidelity Canada executive team/Board
- Collaborates with cross-functional partners across the organization to maintain database of key data inputs needed for external reporting, stakeholder requests and senior leadership and Board engagement.
- Through collaboration with key internal partners, maintain the accuracy and consistency of the sustainability data generated internally, or from partners, that is required to measure our progress and report to stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain documentation of processes and procedures around data collection and management and recommend continuous improvements.
- Contribute to the automation of sustainability related calculations and management reporting and explore ability to drive deeper analytics, drawing on internal subject matter experts where necessary (e.g. predictive analytics, sensitivity analyses)
- Develop independently, and through collaboration with Finance colleagues, management reporting on key metrics and updates on sustainability matters and initiatives
Research and Intelligence
- Continuously review and monitor relevant sustainability-related organizations and partnerships including objectives, requirements and membership to help shape recommendations on Fidelity Canada participation.
- Monitor competitor Corporate Sustainability programs on an ongoing basis and conduct peer and corporate leader benchmarking to inform strategic planning.
- Continuously review and monitor pertinent sustainability standards, frameworks and regulations to assess impact on internal processes.
- Support biennial materiality assessment refresh.
- Monitor new developments in the sustainability measurement and reporting landscape to help shape Fidelity Canada’s disclosure plan.
- Support delivery and ongoing maintenance of portfolio-wide sustainability initiatives
Decarbonization Planning and Delivery Enablement
- Work closely with the Senior Environmental Sustainability Analyst and internal Business Units to develop and execute Fidelity Canada’s multi-year roadmap to lower our environmental impact
- Provide data-driven insights to help recommend viable initiatives and annual/interim targets
- Support the Senior Analyst in engaging with the Real Estate team on property owner/tenant engagement and facilities decarbonization efforts
- Support the Senior Analyst in engaging with Procurement to establish more accurate methods of estimating emissions from suppliers
- Work closely with the Senior Analyst in developing Fidelity Canada’s renewable energy procurement plan
- Research best practice in sustainable facilities and supply chain management to support internal planning efforts
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience preferably in a sustainability related field
- Working experience in Corporate Sustainability, specifically greenhouse gas accounting and sustainability data management is an asset
- Financial services experience is an asset
- Post secondary degree or equivalent work experience
- ISO Lead Auditor Greenhouse Gas certification
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
- Enrollment in Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Canadian Investment Funds Course is an asset
The Expertise you Bring:
- Experience with ESG reporting frameworks including the ISSB, SASB and TCFD is beneficial
- Experience with methodologies and best practices in Greenhouse Gas accounting, in particular the GHG Protocol and the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF)
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal; ability to summarize large amounts of information succinctly and quickly
- High attention to detail with proven abilities in data analysis, trending, auditing & statistical analysis
- Experience using cloud-based sustainability reporting and data management software such as Workiva ESG and Workiva Carbon.
- You are an excellent verbal and written communicator and have strong research and analytical skills

Base Salary: A competitive annual range of $65,000 to $80,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
