We are looking for a Director, Sustainability Due Diligence to lead Valmet’s global efforts to identify, prevent, and mitigate adverse environmental and human rights impacts across operations and supply chains.
In this critical role, you will ensure Valmet not only complies with evolving regulations but also builds resilience and long-term value as a recognized leader in responsible business conduct.
You will be part of our Sustainability team and report directly to the VP, Sustainability. Preferred location of this position is Vantaa, Espoo, Tampere or Jyväskylä.
In this role you will:
Develop and implement a sustainability due diligence framework tailored to projects and supply chains and integrate due diligence into project planning, procurement, and risk management systems.
Lead the Identification of actual and potential human rights impacts associated with organizational activities, and business relationships and engage meaningfully with stakeholders.
Lead development of sustainability audits and impact assessments and other risk mitigation measures.
Assess corporate leverage and responsibility to act on adverse impacts followed by implementing mitigation and remediation strategies to prevent and address harm
We are looking for a person with:
Deep knowledge of sustainability due diligence frameworks and regulations, including EU CSDDD, OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs); and understanding of human and labor rights and ILO conventions.
Strong background in supply chain sustainability, risk management, ethics and compliance, or corporate governance. Experience of managing global supply chains and establishing processes to mitigate risks in a corporate context is a must.
Field work experience of stakeholder engagement is preferred
Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Law, Business, or a related field.
10+ years in sustainability, ESG, compliance, or supply chain management, with 5+ years in leadership roles in the private sector.
Excellent collaboration and influencing skills with an ability to drive results.
Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic global environment.
Fluent English; other languages are considered an asset.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
