Job Description and Duties
Under close supervision from a Structural Steel Painter Supervisor and guidance from a Lead Structural Steel Painter or journey level Structural Painter, the incumbent is placed in an apprentice training program. The incumbent receives direct supervision and training in safety regulations, job safety analysis, and capacities and limitations of types of equipment and scaffolding used in painting and cleaning structural steel bridges, and related structures and facilities. Position may require out-of-town travel, sometimes including overnight stays.
As mandated by the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards for Industrial Painters, the incumbent must attend a minimum of 144 hours of classroom instruction per year on the employee's own time and successfully pass with a minimum of 70% grade average.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Structural Steel Painter Apprentice Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions
Position located at 434 Main Street, San Francisco CA, San Francisco County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
- The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
- Possession of a valid Class C driver license is required.
