The City of Ankeny is seeking a highly motivated college student to complete a summer internship with the City's Public Works – Stormwater & Environmental Division.
The compensation rate is set at $19.00 per hour, 40 hours per week for 13 weeks, mid-May to mid-August. Pre-employment drug screen and background check is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections for erosion control practices and document field observations.
- Investigate suspected illicit discharges to the storm sewer system.
- Complete field observations and record attributes of stormwater infrastructure.
- Assists with surface water quality sampling.
- Performs a variety of environmental and/or engineering duties on routine or minor projects.
- Inspect projects for maintenance work required and assist staff with minor maintenance.
Entry Requirements and Skills
- All applicants who are pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree and recent college graduates will be considered; however, preference will be given to students majoring in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field who have completed their freshman year or higher.
- Knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, etc.) and capable of working with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other engineering automation tools is a plus.
REQUIRED SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Shall possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Performs outside work in all kinds of weather conditions
