Associate/Vice President – Investment & Transactions (Renewable Energy)
Location: Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne
A leading investor in renewable energy and infrastructure is seeking an Associate to join its Investment & Transactions team. This role is focused on supporting the execution of acquisitions, financings, and portfolio transactions across utility-scale energy assets. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver commercially sound outcomes across the full transaction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Modelling & Investment Analysis
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to support investment decisions and portfolio valuations.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess risk and performance under varying market conditions.
- Prepare investment committee materials, including valuation outputs and transaction summaries.
- Candidates must be fully confident in financial modelling and able to independently manage complex analytical tasks.
Transaction Execution
- Support the execution of acquisitions, divestments, and project financings.
- Coordinate due diligence processes across legal, technical, tax, and commercial workstreams.
- Assist in the negotiation and review of term sheets, financing agreements, and transaction documentation.
- Ability to contribute meaningfully to offtake discussions and negotiations is highly valued.
Pipeline & Market Support
- Contribute to the assessment of new investment opportunities in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
- Undertake market research and strategic analysis to inform origination and investment strategy.
- Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) is preferred, particularly in the context of commercial structuring or investment evaluation.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure thorough evaluation and execution of transactions.
- Maintain accurate reporting on deal progress and pipeline activity for senior stakeholders.
- Prior involvement in Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) processes is considered a strong advantage.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in financial modelling and transaction execution, ideally within energy or infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present clear recommendations.
- Familiarity with project finance structures and investment processes.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders.
