About The Role
Due to continuous growth, Umwelt Perth is seeking a Principal to Senior Principal Environmental Consultant to lead and manage planning and approval projects, and environmental impact assessments for major renewables, resources and infrastructure sectors throughout WA.
This role involves handling complex and multi-dimensional environmental assessments and approval processes. Our key services in demand for the WA Environment team are due diligence assessments, approval strategies, planning and environmental approvals, environmental and technical studies, compliance and auditing, and environmental management. You will have the opportunity to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver great project outcomes for our diverse range of clients. Your expertise will be crucial in advancing projects across various sectors, with a primary focus on renewable energy, resources, and infrastructure.
You will also provide a technical mentoring role for our team of environmental consultants, provide technical review across a range of projects, and participate in industry forums as related to environmental impact assessment and approvals. By working as part of our National Environmental business you will have opportunities to learn and develop from a broad network of environmental practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management: Scope, plan, manage, and execute environmental assessment, planning, approvals, and environmental management projects, ensuring integrated outcomes and high-quality delivery.
Team Management: Manage project teams to achieve exceptional project results that meet or exceed client expectations.
Quality Assurance: Maintain a focus on delivering high-quality project outcomes and enhancing client satisfaction.
Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, developing high-quality proposals to secure new business.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual with 15 + years’ experience. In this role you will develop your consulting, writing, project management and technical skills through delivering a range of planning and environmental consulting projects.
You will have:
- Qualifications in environmental science, planning, or related degree discipline
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in environmental impact assessment or planning and approvals (WA experience preferred) – consulting experience is desirable
- Strong knowledge of environmental and planning legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices
- Experience managing medium to large projects through the development spectrum, including managing timelines, budgets, and resourcing
- A strong professional network in WA across the resources, renewables, and/or infrastructure sectors
- Adaptability to undertake a range of technical work based on project requirements
- Interest and aptitude in working across multiple disciplines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain positive team and client relationships
- Organised, motivated and self-directed
