De stage
De opdracht bestaat uit het opzetten van een library voor bestaande PLC code (SCL - structured text) voor de kruimotor aansturing, welke binnen verschillende turbine platformen gebruikt wordt om de turbine in de wind te draaien. Het gaat erom dat er onderzocht wordt hoe de software gesplitst kan worden van de hardware configuraties, zodat de software in verschillende turbine platformen gebruikt kan gaan worden. Het doel is het verhogen van de kwaliteit van de software en het verlagen van ontwikkeltijd die gespendeerd wordt aan onderhoud en testen.
Daarnaast zal de library getest moeten worden met behulp van hardware setup die de motoraansturing van een windmolen nabootst op kleine schaal. Deze hardware setup is beschikbaar op locatie in Barneveld. Het is de bedoeling dat er binnen de opdracht een plan wordt opgezet om regressietesten te kunnen draaien. Hierbij kan de focus in overleg verder afgestemd worden tussen testintegratie en testcoverage (software) en een verdere emulatie/simulatie van de turbine hardware. De hardware setup bestaat uit een stuurkast (PLC, Infeed, motor drives, IO, switch) en een mechanische nabootsing van de turbine met kruimotor-assen en een 'nacelle' as, gekoppeld met een uitwisselbare stijfheid die de dynamica van de tandwielkast emuleert. Ook bevat de setup een extra as waarmee wind emulatie mogelijk wordt.

The internship
The assignment involves setting up a library for existing PLC code (SCL - structured text) for crumb motor control, which is used within different turbine platforms to turn the turbine into the wind. It involves investigating how the software can be split from the hardware configurations so that the software can be used in different turbine platforms. The aim is to increase the quality of the software and reduce development time spent on maintenance and testing.
In addition, the library will have to be tested using hardware setup that mimics the motor control of a wind turbine on a small scale. This hardware setup is available on location in Barneveld. The aim is to set up a plan to run regression tests within the assignment. Here, the focus can be further tuned in consultation between test integration and test coverage (software) and further emulation/simulation of the turbine hardware. The hardware setup consists of a control box (PLC, Infeed, motor drives, IO, switch) and a mechanical emulation of the turbine with crumb motor shafts and a ‘nacelle’ shaft, coupled with an interchangeable stiffness emulating gearbox dynamics. The setup also includes an additional shaft enabling wind emulation.
