Data Analysis

Identify and track key program metrics and impact data in all GRID’s workstreams (program areas) with a focus on performance tracking to GRID’s Strategic Plan, for use in grant applications and reporting

Analyze, decipher, and translate complex program data to inform Philanthropy leadership in their strategic planning for grants and fundraising

Tell stories through data, including by creating data visualizations and materials for fundraisers to share with funders

Collaborate with program teams to collect information
-
Fosters equity, diversity, and inclusion through data analysis methods including promoting an assets-framing approach (highlighting a communities’ strengths rather than deficits), while using data related to GRID’s communities.

Support Philanthropy Operations Database Specialist in producing reports and analytics on fundraising related data as needed, such producing impact data for Annual Report or reporting on key performance indicators
Research
System Improvement and Collaboration

Collaborate with program staff to gather and collect impact data, including guiding analysis according to what grantors are seeking

Assess the current organization-wide data collection systems and processes with a lens on what funders are seeking

Identify gaps in program data that would make GRID’s applications more competitive, and work with the Philanthropy Operations Director to support the development of solutions

Work closely with the HQ Operations team to align data collection and analysis efforts

Support the Philanthropy Operations Director and collaborate with program teams in developing strategies to improve how GRID as an organization collects and analyzes data relevant to grantors and funders.
Data Security & Ethical Data Management

Support the Philanthropy Operations Director in developing strategies, best practices and policies for data security and ethical data management

Monitor and evaluate outcomes of data-driven initiatives to ensure they align with intended objectives and do not inadvertently cause harm or bias

Ensure data accuracy and authenticity
What you need to bring to this role…

4 years of proven experience in data management, research skills, and simplifying complex information for a broad audience
-
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to digest, understand, and analyze large amounts of data
-
Experience with modern databases, IT systems, and related technology tools (Salesforce, SQL, Python, Excel, etc.)
-
Proficient with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, etc.

Proven ability to apply systems thinking principles to identify recurring patterns and relationships across various program areas.

Commitment to GRID’s equity, inclusion, and diversity initiatives: recognizes role of race, gender, and other identities in shaping economic and environmental circumstances, and aware of potential for biases in data

Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship-building, engagement, collaboration, customer service, and the ability to communicate with people who may not be as technologically savvy

Adept at problem-solving and dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholders

4+ years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field

Where you will sit and the places you may go…
This is a fully REMOTE position working out of GRID HQ in Oakland, CA. The Data Analyst may have the option to work from any of GRID's California-based offices for all or a portion of their work week, to be agreed upon with their supervisor.
This position may rarely require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
