You will be a key member of a dynamic group of lawyers, law clerks and legal support staff, providing the highest level of service to our clients, while having the opportunity to cultivate your skills as part of our successful national Environmental, Municipal, Expropriation and Regulatory (“EMER”) Group, within Canada’s premier full-service law firm.

The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Play a critical role in assisting our lawyers on a wide range of leading expropriation matters, mainly focused on acquiring lands for infrastructure projects
- You will assist the EMER lawyers with:
- searching title, executions and property assessment roll book;
- attending to registration of agreements for developers;
- reviewing title instruments, surveys, conducting title synopsis for solicitors, review of draft reference plans, draft expropriation plans and various forms of legal descriptions;
- preparing expropriation notices, by-laws and offers of compensation;
- conducting service of expropriation notices; managing expropriation project timelines; and
- engaging in direct client communications relating to ongoing expropriation matters as part of a larger team
- Collaborate and contribute as an important member of the team and provide unwavering commitment to excellent client service
What you will bring to this role:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience with a focus on title issues and real estate acquisitions
- Experience with high-volume real estate transactions and municipal and/or expropriation processes is a significant asset
- College Law Clerk Diploma or Institute of Law Clerks Ontario Certificate
- University degree is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Initiative and expertise to drive highly effective file management and seek direction when appropriate
- Highly organized with time management skills and keen attention to detail
- Proficiency with Teraview (required), Word, Excel, Outlook and knowledge of iManage and Kofax PDF
- A team player with a strong work ethic and a desire for continuous improvement
