OPS Government Operations Consultant II - LOCAL TRAIL MANAGEMENT GRANT PROGRAM ASSISTANT (37971118)
This position is assigned as grant program assistant for the Trail-GO grant. This grant is available to local governments throughout the state and provides funding for items related to the operations and maintenance of local trails within the Florida Greenways and Trails System (FGTS). This is a position within the Office of Greenways and Trails (OGT) and will help facilitate OGT’s mission of establishing a statewide system of greenways and trails for recreation, conservation and alternative transportation purposes.

The Division of Recreation and Parks provides resource-based recreation while preserving, interpreting and restoring natural and cultural resources. The Office of Greenways and Trails (OGT), within the division, is responsible for planning and implementing the Florida Greenways and Trails System, as well as appraising the recreation needs of the state, providing information to the public relating to outdoor recreation and providing education on the benefits of outdoor recreation.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing consultative services and technical assistance to local governments for the provision of operations and maintenance of trails within the FGTS through grant-in-aid programs.
- Assist with processing applications for grant-in-aid assistance under the Local Trail Management Grant Program, Trail-GO.
- Assist with reviewing, evaluating, and recommending grant applications for funding.
- Review commencement documentation and coordinate post-completion inspections.
- Assist in the development and distribution of reports, bulletins, maps, brochures, and other information to assist in the provision of and participation in the Trail-GO grant program.
- Assist in the planning and conducting of workshops in conjunction with the Trail-GO grant program.
- Participate in conferences, workshops, seminars, and similar activities concerning the implementation of the Trail-GO grant program.
- Performs related duties assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: administrative and office principles, procedures and practices; contract management, program coordination and evaluation techniques. Skill in: must be proficient in Microsoft suite applications; public speaking, writing, and program presentation. Ability to: evaluate, review, and administer federal and state grants; provide consultative and advisory services to government and community groups proficiently use computer software applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; monitor program effectiveness; conduct research and prepare various reports; safely operate a state vehicle maintain a valid driver’s license; travel.
