JOB SUMMARY: This position is located in the Northeast Archeological Resources Program within the Cultural Resources Division of Interior Region 1. This is a temporary appointment NTE 1039 hours. MAJOR DUTIES: As an Archeological Technician, GS-0102-07, with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to: Participates in archeological field surveys by walking over the landscape and searching for archeological features and artifacts, conducts excavation of shovel test pits and test units using hand tools, and periodically monitoring ground disturbing activities to prevent damage to archeological resources. Assists other NPS archeologists and technicians with performance of archeological baseline inventory research and fieldwork. Conducts archeological site condition assessments including GPS mapping, assessing threats, risks, and damages to archeological sites, recording site conditions, and ensuring archeological site information in the Cultural Resources Inventory System - Archeology (CRIS-AR) is complete, accurate, reliable, and up to date. Records data and prepares survey records (e.g., site maps, photographs, surface artifact analysis forms, field notes, etc.).
