The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Delaware Water Gap NRA (DEWA), is Apr-Dec, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated entry on duty is April 2025 Not to Exceed 12/21/2025. This position is located in a National Park Service Unit. Primary purpose of the position is to serve as a Maintenance Worker for the unit.
Summary
MAJOR DUTIES: Performs heavy custodial duties at duty stations, visitor sites, and office buildings. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing floors and walls, emptying trash cans, cleaning the restroom facilities (which include cleaning up bodily fluids/waste), and carrying and walking with heavy trash bags ups to 50-60 pounds from one location to another. Operates Park trucks, up to one ton, on a recurring basis for trash and recycling materials removal, grounds-keeping duties and for moving equipment and furniture. Performs semi-skilled and unskilled minor maintenance and repair work on building, structures, and equipment. Must be able to make repairs on faucets, sinks, toilets, and associated plumbing. Paints, stains, and refinishes furnishings. Responsible for trash and recycling barrels and keeps access sites and grounds around building clean and free of trash and debris.
Conditions of Employment
- Ability to safely operate a variety of motor vehicles.
- Operate a pickup truck, car, or van.
- Operate 4WD trucks up to 3/4 ton.
- Drive vehicles either for specific trip assignment or regularly established schedules and standard routes.

- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Must Complete a Pre-Employment Physical.
- Direct Deposit: Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- Driver's License: You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- Probationary Period: If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- Applicants must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and meet certain educational requirements.

There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
