Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Intermediate Environmental Risk Assessor to join our team! In this role you will get to contribute to a multi-disciplinary professional team on a wide variety of human health and ecological risk assessment projects for brownfield sites throughout Canada. You may also be coordinating and project managing Phase I and II ESA investigations as required.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Conducting human health and ecological risk assessments in accordance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Reviewing and analyzing geoenvironmental data, performing statistical analyses, and identifying gaps, discrepancies, trends, and implications for environmental investigation and risk assessment projects.
- Performing contaminant screening, problem formulation, exposure modelling, toxicity assessment, and risk characterization components of risk assessment.
- Developing human health and ecological conceptual site models.
- Designing risk-based remediation and contaminant management strategies.
- Preparing proposals, budgets, and project timelines for environmental risk assessment projects.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Project management and technical support related to various ESA and remediation projects, including investigations, remediation and risk management measures designs.
- Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments to CSA and O.Reg.153/04 requirements;
- Learn, follow, advocate (train others) and improve upon on our project process that may be required by Parsons and/or our clients. These processes may be related to field scheduling, reporting, data process, health and safety, training, and others.
- Project Management and Coordination:
- ESA and remediation related projects
- Tracking and maintaining budgets and project finances;
- Preparing Reports;
- Maintain client relationships in various industries;
- Liaise and support other engineering disciplines.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as toxicology, environmental science, environmental chemistry, or environmental engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience conducting human health and ecological risk assessments in accordance with provincial or federal frameworks. Eligibility for, or registration as a Qualified Person for Risk Assessment (QPRA) in Ontario is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and interpreting geoenvironmental data, with the ability to critically review consultant reports to extract relevant information, identify data gaps, and assess deficiencies in work programs.
- Proficiency with industry-standard risk assessment tools and software, such as MECP MGRA, Johnson & Ettinger, RBCA, and advanced MS Excel models.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to develop practical and sustainable risk management solutions.
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to produce technically accurate, well-structured reports tailored to project and client requirements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with internal teams, external clients, and regulatory agencies.
