Rincon Consultants is seeking enthusiastic Entry-Level Environmental Planners to join our growing team! In this role, you’ll assist in research, fieldwork, environmental analysis, and report preparation for key projects while contributing to environmental compliance under CEQA/NEPA guidelines.
While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. Please note, this position is listed for Ventura but may also be available at the various locations stated in this job description.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist in preparing CEQA/NEPA documents, technical reports, and permit applications for transportation, renewable energy, and water projects
- Support research and impact analysis under the guidance of experienced team members
- Collaborate with clients, agencies, and interdisciplinary teams to support project goals
- Support the management of projects of various sizes, including staff coordination and scheduling
- Assist in tracking assignments to help ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget
- Perform site visits to gather information and support project development
- Complete other duties as assigned by the manager or project lead to support team and project needs
This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:- A BS/BA degree in environmental studies, planning, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents and deliver presentations
- A collaborative attitude and eagerness to learn from a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- An interest in transportation, renewable energy, water projects and/or environmental compliance processes (CEQA/NEPA)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and a willingness to travel locally for project needs

The base salary range for this full-time position is $60,000–$75,000, plus a benefits program. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
