PositionSummary:
TheManager,EnergyStorageApplicationsEngineeringprovidestechnicalexpertisetosupport Canadian Solar’s energy storage solutions. This position will be responsible for the pre-salesactivitiesofutility-scaleBatteryEnergyStorageSystems(BESS)includingsystemsizing,data analysis, preliminary design, cost estimating, financial optimization, and value engineering.
Thisrolewillrequirethechosencandidatetoworkcloselywiththecommercialandengineering teams to help develop proposals for new storage project opportunities and provide technical support to respond to customer needs.
Responsibilities:
Pre-salesEngineeringandDesign
- ServeasatechnicalliaisonfortheSalesteamtocustomers,andanexpertresource forgeneral product specifications and value engineering discussions.
- AnalyzeRFPorothercustomerdocumentationtodetermineprojectscope,schedule, specifications, risk, and technical requirements.
- Preparetechnicaldocumentationforproposalsandcoordinatethebidpackagepreparation with other departments.
- Prepare,reviewandnegotiatetechnicalcontractschedules.
- Workcloselywithsalesstaff,engineering,andprocurementtoensurecompleteandshared project understanding and priorities.
- Conducttechnicalpresentationsandprovideclarificationstocustomersandother departments.
- Developsizemodelsandconceptualdrawingssets(ElectricalOne-lineDiagrams,SiteLayouts, etc.) in collaboration with other Applications Engineers.
- Incollaborationwiththeengineeringteam.establishandmaintaintheengineering,design criteria and applicable standards and specifications for BESS projects
- PerformsitevisitsandBESSfieldinspectionsasneeded

- CoordinatemajorsubcontractorsRFPincludingscopesofworkforelectricalinstallationsand design
- Incollaborationwithprocurementteam,investigatealternatesourcesforequipmentand subcontractors
QualificationsandSkills:
- Ago-getterprofessionalwithacan-doattitude.
- Bachelor’sdegreeinengineering(preferablyElectrical)disciplineisrequired;agraduatedegree is strongly preferred.
- Abilitytopositivelyinteractandcollaboratewithadiversegroupofpeopleatalllevelsand disciplines.
- Excellentcommunicationskills.
- Comfortableinadynamicandfluidenvironment.
- Excellenttimemanagementskills,withtheabilitytobalancemultipleprojectsandavarietyof issues, initiatives, and objectives concurrently.
- Severalyearsofexperienceinapplicationsand/orsystemsengineeringwithanenergystorage integrator, consulting firm, developer, or OEM.
- Directexperienceinutility-scalebatteryenergystoragesystemsorsolarPVplants.
- Backgroundinpowerelectronicsorpowersystemswouldbea plus.
- Exceptionaltechnicalaptitudeincludingtheabilitytoreadandfullyunderstandengineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews.
- Solidunderstandingofregulatorystandardsrelatedtoenergystorageandgrid-interactive inverters.
- Globalperspectiveandawareness,anddirectexperienceworkingacrossdiverseculturesina multinational company would be beneficial.
