JOB SUMMARY: This position is part of the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a INTERDISCIPLINARY General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will be a senior technical expert conducting and evaluating life cycle analysis/assessment (LCA) of advanced carbon management technologies including carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) as well as carbon dioxide removal (CDR). The analysis will support and evaluate FECM's R&D program activities. MAJOR DUTIES: As an INTERDISCIPLINARY General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will: Serve as an expert advisor and provides leadership for extensive DOE scientific and engineering efforts. Plan, organize and manage programs/projects that are broad in scope and that lack scientific and/or engineering precedents for critical phases of the project required for accomplishment of vital DOE missions and goals. Negotiate cost-sharing and other contractual terms with appropriate participation by procurement offices, Office of General Counsel, and patent counsel on projects involving millions of dollars annually. Develop, review and implement detailed project plans that direct the work undertaken by various DOE organizations, contractors and grantees. Prepare input or reviews and comments on assigned reports and issues produced by interagency groups. Represent DOE and assigned organization on interagency task forces, committees, and other groups or conferences relating to technical and policy issues.
