Salary Information: $111,234 (step 01) to $144,608 (step 10) Note: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the step 01. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Supervisory Hydrologist within the Oregon Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include: Manage staff to ensure that activities and projects are well organized and progress satisfactory. Coordinate program development by identifying hydrologic data and research needs to be guided by USGS priorities and engagement with partners (Federal, State, and local agencies). Lead and supervise and motivate team personnel in fundamental data collection and calculation of hydrologic records. Manage center databases and serve as technical expert, providing authoritative instruction and guidance for data collection needs by staff in the team and section. Operate a government owned or leased vehicle as an incidental driver. Operate and maintain outboard powered boats. Physical Demands and Work Environment Field work is performed in a wide range of weather conditions, often requiring protective clothing against inclement weather. Field work may also involve operating small watercraft, driving motor vehicles to work sites, some of which may be remote, and include overnight stays in remote locations. Conditions of Employment of the USGS Watercraft Safety Program: Motorboat Operator Certification - You must be able to take and pass the USGS Motorboat Operator Certification Course (MOCC) within six (6) months of employment. CPR Certification - Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification for the duration of employment. First Aid Certification - Must be able to obtain and maintain Wilderness or Advanced First Aid certification for duration of employment.
