About
My professional background in agriculture, environmental sustainability, research, and stakeholder engagement, combined with my longstanding personal commitment to plant-based living, makes this opportunity especially meaningful to me.
I have been vegetarian for 40 years and plant-based for the past 10 years. My personal commitment to plant-based living has given me a deep appreciation for the importance of developing sustainable, accessible, and innovative food systems.
Professionally, I bring more than 10 years of experience working across agricultural research, higher education, government, environmental sustainability, and community outreach. I have worked with researchers, faculty, students, farmers, and community stakeholders on sustainable agriculture and research initiatives. I coordinated research activities, supported data collection, mentored interns, and helped translate technical information into practical educational resources.
My experience with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture and USDA Agricultural Marketing Service further strengthened my ability to build relationships across government, academic, agricultural, and industry communities. I have organized conferences, workshops, webinars, and stakeholder meetings; developed technical and educational materials; and communicated complex agricultural and regulatory information to audiences with different levels of technical expertise.
I am particularly interested in this fellowship because it brings together science, agriculture, research, communication, and community building. I enjoy identifying opportunities to connect people and ideas, understanding different perspectives, and translating technical information into language that makes it accessible and engaging to broader audiences.
I hold a Master of Professional Science in Environmental Studies and Sustainability and am beginning a Ph.D. in Organic and Regenerative Agriculture at Maharishi International University on August 17, 2026.
My academic and professional work has focused on sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, food systems, soil health, and environmental stewardship.
I am particularly excited about the opportunity to help expand the scientific community working on innovative solutions for a more sustainable and equitable food system.
