Description

Objectives and Purpose of the Job:

The Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, monitoring workplace environments, and developing safety programs to promote a culture of safety across the organization.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain SHE policies and procedures to ensure adherence to local and international health and safety regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate and deliver SHE training programs for all employees to enhance safety awareness and knowledge.
Prepare reports and presentations on SHE performance, including accident and incident reports, and recommend improvements as needed.
Lead investigations into accidents and near misses, ensuring that corrective actions are taken and documented appropriately.
Serve as a point of contact for SHE-related inquiries and provide guidance on best practices.
Monitor and manage the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the organization.
Collaborate with management and employees to enhance safety measures and promote a proactive safety culture.
Stay updated on relevant legislation and changes in the SHE field, and advise management accordingly.
Assist in developing emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness.
Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Academic/Technical/Management: Experience and Qualifications:

Tertiary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in health and safety management within a manufacturing or related environment.
Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH or equivalent) is preferred.

Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SHE management software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
