POSITION SUMMARY

Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Environmentalist to join our team, a unique hospitality destination with an on-site farm. As an Environmentalist, you will play a crucial role in promoting sustainable practices across the hotel and farm operations. This includes overseeing eco-friendly initiatives, managing resources responsibly, and ensuring the integration of sustainable farming practices with the hotel's operations. You will work closely with hotel management, farm staff, and guests to create an environmentally-conscious and resource-efficient atmosphere. Further more you will work together with the Recreation team to create lasting memories and amazing activities for the guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Sustainability Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies that align with the hotel’s environmental goals, such as composting.
- Design, track, and report on sustainability initiatives related to energy use, waste reduction, water conservation, and farm-to-table practices.
- Work with management to set achievable environmental goals and ensure the hotel’s operations are in compliance with local environmental regulations.
Farm Sustainability Oversight:
- Oversee sustainable farming practices on the hotel farm, including organic farming, crop rotation, water usage, and waste management.
- Collaborate with farm staff to ensure soil health, plant health, and biodiversity are maintained.
- Educate the farm team and hotel staff on sustainable farming methods and eco-friendly practices.
Resource Management in cooperation with the culinary team:
- Develop programs to reduce waste, promote recycling, and minimize energy consumption in the hotel and on the farm.
- Monitor water use on the property, promoting efficient irrigation and water-saving techniques.
- Promote the use of renewable energy and eco-friendly technologies throughout the hotel and farm.
Guest Engagement & Education:
- Lead eco-friendly initiatives for guests, such as offering farm tours, sustainability workshops and create connections with the guests on the way.
- Provide educational materials and signage in the hotel to raise awareness about sustainability efforts and environmental impact.
- Spend time with guests on private tours explaining the concept of the farm.
Partnerships & Certifications:
- Identify and establish partnerships with local environmental organizations and sustainable suppliers.
- Work towards obtaining and maintaining certifications for sustainability.
- Research new eco-certifications and help the hotel achieve higher standards of environmental excellence.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with recreation management, farm team, and other departments to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the hotel’s operations.
- Train and mentor staff on eco-friendly practices and sustainability goals.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agricultural Science, or related field.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with staff and guests.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and project management skills.
Passion for environmental conservation and a genuine interest in sustainable hospitality.

Preferred Skills:

Experience animals such as bees, goats and organic farming techniques.
Knowledge of sustainable farming practices, including organic farming, soil health, and water conservation.
Familiarity with Composting systems, hydroponic systems
Knowledge about honey and goat milk production
