JOB SUMMARY: As natural resources manager for one or more parks, the incumbent serves as a principal advisor in the management of natural resources and is responsible for program development and implementation. The program may include, but is not limited to, vegetation, wildlife, sensitive species, exotic and pest species, fisheries, air and water quality, soils, geology, hydrology, paleontology, other physical sciences, and range management.. MAJOR DUTIES: Natural Resource Program Manager at Morristown National Historical Park (NHP) serves as the senior principal advisor on natural resource issues, policies, and management; and is responsible for program development and implementation. The incumbent develops and manages a resource management program that includes vegetation, wildlife, sensitive species, exotic and pest species, fisheries, air and water quality, soils, geology, hydrology, paleontology, and other physical sciences. The manager collaborates with external agencies and partners to advance resource management goals and negotiates agreements to achieve park objectives. In addition, the incumbent plans, develops, and implements scientifically creditable research that is used to make informed management decisions and prepares material for internal and external stakeholders and communicates resource management program information to these audiences. This position reports to the park superintendent. Morristown NHP encompasses 1,800 acres of mostly forested land with 65 acres of farm fields and 21 miles of hiking trails. The park is made up of four non-contiguous park areas spread approximately 5 miles apart and located within two counties.
