RESPONSABILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
Technical integrity
Define the technical requirements, improvements and the maintenance strategy for the Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) in the Continental Europe O&M Offshore business in order to maximize the availability, reliability and efficiency of the assets, as per the best industry practices.
- Identify and claim to the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) all the technical defects found in the different components of the WTG, especially during the Defects Notification Period (DNP) defined in the Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA) and participate actively alongside the Iberdrola Contract Manager in the claim process. This task is paramount and critical as the economical impact may be very costly (>50M€) depending on the component affected and whether it is consider a serial defect or not.
- Identify the technical risks in the Business as a consequence of the condition of the WTG components and define the necessary actions to eliminate or mitigate these risks as much as reasonably possible.
- Assess the technical issues/incidents in the WTG, or guarantee that the assessment is carried out by the OEM, in order to determine the root causes and make sure that all necessary actions and design modifications to prevent this incident from happening again are put in place.
- Define the necessary design modifications and assess the ones proposed by the OEM. Follow up the implementation of these design modifications and monitor the subsequent behaviour of the WTG in order to determine the effectiveness of the actions.
- Monitor and supervise the preventive/corrective activities carried out by the OEM, or any other contractor, which are required to guarantee/recover the WTG availability. Make sure that the required works quality and the conditions in the contract are fulfilled.
- Produce the necessary procedures in order to guarantee that the maintenance activities are fully deployed.
Regulation and legal requirements
- Make sure that the applying legal requirements affecting the WTG are completely fulfilled as per the conditions defined by the local official bodies in the country where the Wind Farm stands.
Coordination of activities and standardization of the best practices in the Global O&M Offshore
- Extend the lessons learnt and the best practices to the other Hubs within the O&M Offshore Business.
- Coordinate the execution of the maintenance activities with the local Iberdrola Site staff based in the Wind Farm in order to make sure that these maintenance activities are carried out safely, timely and with the required quality.
- Regarding the new projects (under development and construction) define, alongside the project team and the Principal Manager for WTG in Operations Engineering, the best solutions to be implemented so that Operation and Maintenance activities will be as efficient as possible once the Wind Farm enters into the commercial operation phase.
- Coordinate the WTG maintenance strategy with the other Hubs within the Global Offshore O&M Business, i.e. UK and USA, standardizing global approaches.
- Manage the personnel under his/her remit, identify their training needs and put in place the necessary actions to fulfill those gaps.
- Coordinate, within the scope of his/her responsibilities, the interaction with the Global Technical Services, OEM, certifiers and regulatory bodies in order to deploy a highest efficient and technical capability relationship.
Contracts and procurement
- Act as the technical counterpart with the OEM, according to the terms of the Service Maintenance Agreement (SMA) or the applying contractual relationship.
- Produce technical specifications (scope of works) and technical evaluations of the bidders as required, playing an active role in the procurement processes so that the most technically qualified providers are selected.
- Manage effectively the assigned maintenance contracts, contributing to maximize the financial business results throughout the reduction of the operating costs and the execution of high quality maintenance activities.
EXPERIENCE
- Management of maintenance activities for onshore, offshore, CCGT, nuclear, hydro or Oil & Gas assets (>5 years).
- Part of global teams for multitask, international projects (>3 years).
- Management of contract (>3 years).
