Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the oversight of all environmental policies and procedures as well as ensuring that all related work is completed in compliance with Company, State, and Federal regulations for all Hussey Copper locations. This includes Leetsdale, Pennsylvania and the two Eminence, Kentucky locations. This position will also include the following.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage a compliance calendar to support all environmental permitting, regulatory activity and Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure facility compliance with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Manage the operation, compliance, and reporting of the facility's Wastewater Treatment System
- Manage the disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials including, evaluation of alternative options, schedule, recordkeeping, certifications and training.
- Manage ongoing sustainability efforts to achieve targeted improvements.
- Actively participate in the MDI process and serve as lead for all environmental issues including preparation and presentation of information for Hussey Copper leadership team as needed.
- Oversight and functional authority throughout the facilities for environmental issues.
- Conduct routine inspections of the facility to meet compliance obligations, documents findings, arranges for and monitors progress of clean-up/remediation of problem areas.
- Oversee all communications with Hussey Copper employees concerning environmental issues.
- Conduct training for employees regarding the EMS, waste handling, chemical hazards, pollution prevention, waste minimization, etc.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Ability to read and interpret environmental and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

- Ability to be decisive and apply sound and reasonable judgement under pressure.
- High level verbal and written communication skills.

- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Excellent computer skills required.
- Travel is expected 25-50% to support multiple facilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Environmental Scientist/Specialist or others within the Environmental department.
Education:
- At least 3 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist or a similar position in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- 4-year degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or similar required.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Work is performed in an industrial setting with varying temperatures, loud noise and heavy activity.
