This position will identify, encourage, promote, and support sustainability opportunities and initiatives to reduce or eliminate adverse environmental impacts and plan, prepare, and monitor environmental research and evaluate potential impact of assigned projects. This position will estimate the level of pollutants involving air, land, and water to devise mitigating measures and use a variety of research methods to analyze, report, and provide recommendations for corporate sustainability projects and programs and will act as the primary liaison between internal departments and external stakeholders, facilitate clear and effective communication and establish trust to promote mutual understanding and collaboration.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify areas needing improvement and to establish effective sustainability initiatives.
- Recommend environmental goals and targets in alignment with the organization’s long-term objectives.
- Work closely and collaboratively with diverse teams, across the institution, to gather, synthesize, and ensure that stakeholder needs are integrated into project planning and execution.
- Ensure the integration of sustainable practices across all departments to foster a cohesive and comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility.
- Assist with the administration and planning of sustainability activities.
- Engage with stakeholders, including employees, partners, and the community, to promote and advocate for sustainability efforts.
- Measure progress by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and generating detailed reports on the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
- Innovate and inspire the organization by instilling a culture of sustainability through educational programs and continuous improvement practices.
- Assist development and communication of a clear sustainability strategy to ensure the company’s environmental goals are met efficiently.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, communication-intensive field, or similar field.
Minimum Experience:
- Five (5) years of experience developing, maintaining and/or managing sustainability-based initiatives processes and programs.
- Experience working with sustainability in healthcare, university, and research setting is preferred.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $86,320 - $154,960 per year for the role of Sustainability Coordinator.
