Job Title: Environmental Scientist with Strong Data Management Experience
Position Overview:
This role involves implementing project work related to sediment, soil, water, air, and biota investigations. The position also requires conducting online research to develop inventories of scientific literature and publicly available technical studies on chemical compounds, their ecological and toxicological effects, and preparing environmental data for database integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct online research using appropriate tools to gather and analyze scientific literature and public data for relevancy and completeness.
- Compile and maintain inventories of datasets for review by Subject Matter Experts for database inclusion of chemical, biological, and toxicological parameters.
- Extract and transform analytical chemistry data from public sources into spreadsheet templates for database integration.
- Utilize knowledge of analytical chemistry and environmental data to ensure accurate preparation for database assimilation.
- Provide technical expertise in environmental data and methods to support the data management team.
- Coordinate with data source subject matter experts to ensure data integration, integrity, and quality.
- Collaborate with business and technology team members.
- Operate independently while maintaining accountability for deliverables.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in an environmental-related discipline (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, or environmental science).
- 5+ years of related work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player with a collaborative approach.
- Critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Full-time availability (40 hours/week) preferred, though part-time (half or three-quarters time) will be considered.
Contract Period:
- 1 year, with potential for extension.
Location:
- Norwell, MA office (on-site or hybrid office/home arrangement).
