Project description
ReBuilt is a research project that promotes the novel concept of a regenerative built environment and demonstrates how it can be implemented in practice. A core aim is to assess the potential of nature-based materials to meet future construction demands and to estimate the potential of the built environment to act as a carbon sink. We apply quantitative methods and scenario-based approaches. Four in-depth case studies in Germany, Bhutan, Indonesia, and South Africa complement the global assessments. You will be part of an interdisciplinary project team of over 15 researchers and other collaborators.
Your mission
- Supervision of the model development comprising the availability of nature-based resources and the future demand of construction materials using geospatial data and scenario-based approaches
- Assessment of carbon storage potentials for increased use of forest products as long-lived construction materials
- Support the dissemination of project results (including scientific publications)
- Seek additional funding to expand Bauhaus Earth’s research portfolio and team
Your profile
- Master’s degree or PhD in natural sciences, e.g. environmental sciences, sustainability sciences, natural resource management, forestry, industrial ecology, geo-information or another relevant subject
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience in a comparable position
- Modelling and data analysis skills (e.g. R, Python), skills in LCA, Material Flow Analysis and and scenario analysis are benefitial
- Experience in grant proposal writing
