Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
As an EHS Engineer, you will develop into a business partner to help support the business groups’ EHS goals and the path to achieve it, while ensuring corporate EHS objectives and legal requirements are being met. You will be responsible for supporting chemical product and hardware manufacturing and R&D activities at our Totowa, NJ facility.

Your Responsibilities Include:
Develop and implement safety programs and employee training to promote a safe work environment
Provide EHS support to Operations, Logistics, Engineering, R&D, and other site functions to ensure EHS aspects are incorporated into manufacturing processes and product design
Inform management of EHS deviations, call out risks with respect to employees, processes, and products
Develop and administer Chemical Hygiene Plan, Laboratory Safety Procedures and Hazard Communication Programs
Implement and lead ISO 14001 and 45001 programs and Management Reviews with department leads and supervisors
Administer facility NJDEP Hazardous Waste Program, Community Right to Know/Pollution Prevention, waste profiles, collection schedules, permitting and required agency reports
Coordinate EHS Management of Change Program and provide consultation on construction projects, new product launches and non-routine maintenance
Lead site Emergency Response Team
Conduct Job Hazard Analysis/Risk Assessments and develop hazard control strategies to reduce risk of injury and potential environmental harm
Manage site PPE program including selection, proper use, maintenance and inspection of equipment
Coordinate DG/IATA training, forklift training and licensing for Logistics team
Provide EHS technical guidance for high hazard operations, including laser devices, EMF, XRF, UV and machine shop safety
Conduct routine safety inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions and related recordkeeping
Provide support to our ESG (sustainability) efforts for site activities that are under your span of control
Keep current on regulatory trends and corporate programs and communicate requirements to site leadership and corporate EHS as needed
Obtain and maintain appropriate EHS credential required to be successful in this position. This includes but not limited to hazardous material and hazardous waste management, Dangerous Goods/IATA, DOT and emergency response
This role will be based onsite at our Manufacturing Facility in Totowa, NJ
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and minimum seven (7) years of EHS experience in chemical manufacturing, technology, or related industry
Experience in New Jersey environmental and safety laws and reporting is a must
Ability to work in a multi-functional environment, respecting and engaging others to resolve problems and improve processes
Excellent project management skills and ability to work to commitments
Ability to communicate EHS requirements and risk control concepts in a succinct and easy to comprehend manner to a diverse audience.
Experience with EHS Management Systems (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) preferred
Professional EHS certifications like CHMM, CSP, or CIH are preferred
Must be proficient in MS Office programs
