Reporting directly to the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator II at the corporate level and, depending on the assigned work site, reports to the Project Manager and/or Contract Administrator, the primary responsibility of the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator I is to provide guidance on workplace risk prevention. This role must offer advice to enable the team to comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations in accordance with current legal requirements and the standards of the National Mining Industry and each work site.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for advising, updating, and ensuring compliance with all current mining safety regulations of the Client and legislation in accordance with laws and supreme decrees. Oversees and manages the safety, health, and environmental regulations established by the Company and the Client.
- Provides ongoing advice on Risk Prevention in the area, addressing both legal and technical aspects (on-site coaching, standards, and procedures). Coordinates, monitors, and follows up on Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene activities to ensure that areas are meeting legal requirements and objectives.
- Ensures proper use of worksite facilities, vehicles, tools, and technical documentation provided by the company for contract-related activities, safeguarding these resources and maintaining confidentiality.
- Leads, encourages, and audits compliance with all current standards, regulations, procedures, and documents for managing safety, health, and the environment for the company and its collaborators.
- Maintains monthly statistical evaluations and reports on workplace accidents and occupational illnesses. Conducts analyses of accident trends and projections for the Additional Contribution Rate.
- Provides assistance, representation, communication, and solutions for requirements raised by the Administrator of Law 16.744 and regulatory agencies with relevant jurisdiction.
- Conducts educational activities for risk prevention and promotes training and development of workers by leading safety, health, and environmental campaigns and activities.
- Ensures and oversees the implementation of Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Management programs and plans at the assigned worksite.
- Advises, educates, and supervises workers in the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) before and during the execution of tasks.
- Identifies and investigates the causes of workplace accidents, occupational illnesses, and any incidents occurring at the worksite.
- Prepares Monthly Safety Reports in accordance with the established standards of the worksite.
- Directs and monitors the adoption of hygiene and safety measures to prevent occupational risks.
- Conducts basic inductions on safety, health, and the environment for all new workers at the assigned worksite.
- Provides technical advice to the team regarding the proper use of the attendance log.
- Coordinates and supervises health exams, psycho-sensory tests, drug screenings, and other evaluations for all personnel at the assigned worksite.
- Actively participates in the implementation and monitoring of safety and environmental initiatives.
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum of 3 years of proven professional experience in the National Mining Industry sector.

Risk Prevention Engineer with Seremi de Salud Certification. (Postgraduate degree, postgraduate diploma, or certifications in risk prevention, occupational health, ergonomics, and workplace quality of life are desirable.)
- Knowledge of Law 16.744 regulations and its complementary decrees and/or applicable areas (including D.S. No. 594, D.S. 40, D.S. 54, D.S. 67, D.S. 109, D.S. 132, Mining Safety, among others).
- Experience in applying MINSAL Protocols such as TMERT-ESS, MMC, Psychosocial CEAL-SM/SUCESO, UV Radiation, PREXOR, PLANESI, and Hypobaric protocols.
- Familiarity with social security laws and SUSESO jurisprudence.
- Class B driver's license (minimum of 1 year).
- Travel required for mine site based on a shift system
