The Climate Transformation Programme – Cross Cutting Theme 1: Sustainable Societies is seeking to hire a Research Fellow at the School of Art, Design and Media for a one-year duration. The Research Fellow will work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment, aiming to cultivate a critical multiplicity of voices, perspectives, knowledges, and skills from both within and outside academic realms in the formation of ‘Sustainable Societies’ that engage with questions of climate change.
Under the supervision of Professor Ute Meta Bauer, the successful candidate will be embedded within the research framework of Climates.Habitats.Environments., developed by Bauer, which bridges arts and cultural production, local and indigenous knowledge, and science to develop transdisciplinary solutions addressing and mitigating the climate crisis. The Research Fellow will be based at the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the managerial oversight of the project’s publishing and editorial aspects.
Author research publications and contribute to the development of public or scholarly presentations related to the research project.
Identify and author grants to further research projects and related programming, publications, workshops and conferences.
Support the development of a transdisciplinary MA programme in cultural and environmental conservation and preservation.
Job Requirements
PhD in humanities, cultural anthropology, art, architecture or design.
Academic track record in transdisciplinary climate research, as well as in local and indigenous cultural practices, or in cultural and environmental conservation and preservation.
Strong academic writing skills, preferably in English, with high literacy of cultural and environmental vocabularies for text submissions to peer-reviewed academic journals.
Strong project management skills and experience with transdisciplinary academic publishing and presentation.
