JOB TITLE: Environmental and Sustainability Specialist

THE JOB
You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing and delivering the Environmental and Sustainability strategy for Fibrus Group, whilst developing and managing processes to ensure we are building and delivering an environmentally sustainable network. Passionate about the future of our planet, you’ll use your expertise and influencing skills to inspire a cultural transformation and the integration of environmentally sustainable behaviours and tools across operational and functional areas. On occasion you with be expected to travel between NI and GB to meet the business needs.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- With support from our Senior leadership Team and Senior Management Team’s you’ll be responsible for creating, implementing and delivering the Environmental and Sustainability strategy for Fibrus Group.
- Provide strategic insight, guidance and leadership, ensuring business compliance grows and is aligned at all times with regulations and societal expectations, delivering a sustainable environmental performance.
- Partner with key stakeholders & functional experts across the Business including Legal, Commercial, Marketing, Procurement and Finance to ensure the effective communication of our environmental and sustainability agenda.
- Coach, mentor and manage the project implementation teams to deliver business sustainability goals and objectives.
- Ensuring our projects are in compliance with Environmental Planning requirements.
- Oversee greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions tracking and reporting, helping Fibrus quantify and monitor emissions in line with GHG protocols.
- Drive decarbonization initiatives and ensure the business is on track with emissions reduction commitments to reach Net Zero targets.
- Prepare and present environmental performance reports for internal and external stakeholders, including Senior Management and Investors, to ensure transparency and accountability in our sustainability journey.
- Develop and deliver training initiatives on sustainability practices, engaging employees at all levels to embed a culture of environmental responsibility.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement in environmental practices, seeking new ways to enhance the sustainability of Fibrus’s operations.
- Monitor and continuously improve our ISO 14001 Integrated Management Systems.
- Identify and communicate risks and opportunities. Work with business subject matter experts to develop mitigation strategies across the business.
- Engage with stakeholders including the Local Planning Authority and the Environment Agency.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING?
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of environmental and carbon legislation and an awareness of the broader climate change agenda.
- Experience in environmental planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance within AONB’s, Historical Monuments and SSSI’s.
- Experience in greenhouse gas emissions reporting, carbon footprint assessments, and decarbonization initiatives.
- Experience of delivering decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects.
- A Passion for the future of our planet, you’ll use your expertise and influencing skills to inspire and influence Fibrus and its key stakeholders on delivering its sustainability strategy to achieve our Net Zero targets.
- Skilled in data gathering, able to bring together data from a variety of sources and stakeholders and communicate effectively with external stakeholders, customers and peers.
- The ability to effectively communicate information to colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels is essential, the ability to work collaboratively with various departments across the business.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, environment or engineering (or equivalent)
- Demonstrable ability to lead in a complex environment, energizing teams and executing strategic projects.
- Support continued certification to the environmental management system with focus on ISO 14001.
