This is a paid internship that is part of the Heaven Hill's Summer Internship Program (running May-August). The role is office/hybrid, based out of our Louisville, KY office.

What the Role Is
The Environmental & Sustainability Intern will support the Environmental & Sustainability team in shaping positive environmental impact through data management across Heaven Hill’s four sustainability initiatives: use water more efficiently, drive toward zero carbon emissions, reduce waste, and conserve the ecosystems that support our business. As a summer intern, you will have the opportunity to work on projects to evaluate Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, reduce water risk, and strengthen Heaven Hill's preparedness for CSRD reporting into the European Union.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- Water Risk: Research available methodologies to expand the current understanding of the level of water risk for each Heaven Hill operating facility across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
- Scope 3 Emissions: Research and determine appropriate emission factors for quantifying Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with agricultural purchases. The intern will work closely with the sustainability team to identify and analyze the emissions generated from the supply chain activities related to the procurement of agricultural raw materials used in the production of distilled spirits.
- Document Control: Move all Operations-focused environmental compliance plans, programs, and work instructions from Teams drive into Document Control site.
- Develop and deliver a presentation to Executive Leadership Team at the end of your internship experience
- Assist with other projects as assigned.
Who You Are…
- Currently a junior / senior enrolled in a college or university pursuing requirements for a degree program in environmental science or related field
- Awareness of current environmental issues
- Ability to learn quickly and apply learning to tasks
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Physical Requirements
While performing duties of job, employee is frequently required to stand; extensive walking; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Will be required to climb stairs and may be required to climb ladders. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
