The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site, with planned production of up to 8 million tonnes of per annum. With approvals in place out to 2046, the mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal.
Malabar Resources is an independent Australian-based resources company located in the Upper Hunter Valley, in New South Wales.
In addition to the Maxwell Underground Mine, we own the Maxwell Solar Farm based on rehabilitated land on the Maxwell Infrastructure site, Maxwell Infrastructure, the Spur Hill Underground Project, and agricultural properties including the Merton Vineyard.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are now seeking an Assistant Surveyor/Surveyor Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Registered Mining Surveyor, you will expand your knowledge and skills utilising modern survey equipment including Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), Total Station Theodolite, Laser Scanners and the latest processing and modelling software.
As the successful candidate, you will be mentored by experienced surveyors and provided opportunities to attend local industry seminars. Indicative tasks, and responsibilities, may include:
- Providing accurate survey support and data in accordance with statutory and company standards for the support of the mine’s operation.
- Maintaining survey standards in field and office environment.
- Conducting surveys utilising the latest GNSS, total station theodolites, terrestrial laser scanner and RPAS technology.
- Taking an active role in the daily running of the Survey Office
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety behaviours in the workplace.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A recent graduate, or in the process of completing, formal surveying qualifications (Diploma, Associate Degree or Degree) through a tertiary institution.
- Willingness to learn how to use various technologies employed in the profession.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management
- Passionate about continuous improvement and technological advancement in mining
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- Dedicated to grow and develop skills and attributes required for a Mine Surveyor
- The ability to pass an industry medical assessment, prior to commencement, is required.
