We are looking for a PROJECT CONTROLS SPECIALIST position based in our Pittsburgh, PA corporate office or Columbus, OH office, and has potential for hybrid work schedule (office/remote) with work from office required for key meetings, to establish business relationships, and manage assigned opportunities.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: |

| The primary function of this dynamic position is to provide project controls support to the utility division of Sargent Electric Company through timely and accurate monitoring, prediction, control and reporting of work to project management. |
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: |
|
| Include but are not limited to:- Coordinate development and implementation of project work breakdown structure (WBS) / cost breakdown structure (CBS) while supporting the development of project execution plans.
- Review financial data related to invoice payments, purchase orders, expended labor hours and installed units.
- Understands scope control and change management.
- Understands earned value and cost forecasting (project direct and indirect costs).
- Coordinate and develop project annual spend projections, cost reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Provide interface to other functions and teams to improve processes, resolve conflicting priorities and ensure adherence to best project practices.
- Monitor costs within each project stage and for entire project lifecycle.
- Analyze project cost variances to predict forecasts and report to project management.
- Understands cost and billing rates for labor, material and equipment.
- Recognizes productivity impacts such as weather, shifts, location, labor availability, etc.
- Adhere to financial, business, and project processes.
- Understand and support all Company policies and procedures and follow/communicate accordingly.
- Be aware of skill training enhancement needs and opportunities relative to the position and/or to direct reports, if any. Communicate accordingly to management.
- When appropriate, participate in and actively support, all Company training, safety, and management development initiatives.
- Assume any additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Electric Management.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: |
|
| - Understanding of general accounting principles required.
- Understanding of construction accounting preferred (earned value, job cost projections, work in progress).
- Excellent written communication skills. Proficient with in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of diverse individuals.
- Works efficiently under tight timeframes, responds to requests in a timely manner, and communicates effectively as a team player.
- Ability to multi‐task in fast paced environment, including prioritizing activities, enhancing efficiencies and being organized.

QUALIFICATIONS: |
|
| - Minimum of 3 years of construction project controls or accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, engineering, construction management, or 3+ years of demonstrated equivalent.
