Job Summary
As Reliability engineer, you will be responsible and accountable for the engineering of operating assets. The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for leading the performance and reliability engineering of Urban Grid’s Solar assets ensuring their optimal performance, efficiency, and profitability. This role involves collaborating with various teams including asset management, pre-construction, construction, project engineering, and legal to develop and implement effective strategies for managing and optimizing solar assets. The Reliability Engineer will also be responsible for completing the daily activities of the system engineering team and supporting compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance program and standards.
- Assist in equipment risk assessment and inventory management standards.
- Complete failure prediction processes using Weibull analysis or comparable statistical method.
- Support asset management and performance software systems.
- Develop process and systems to identify performance issues.
- Establishment of aerial thermography standards and strategy to incorporate manned or unmanned drones.
- Incorporate advanced data science, machine learning and AI techniques to optimize performance.
- Work closely with asset managers, operations and maintenance and senior management to drive operational excellence.
- Develop technical procedures and processes.
- Establish communication channels and processes to improve lifecycle support of projects.
- Support extreme weather and natural catastrophe procedure and strategy development.
- Support commissioning processes and standards development.
- Support the establishment of panel recycling and decommissioning strategies.
- Provide technical aspects of reporting for the projects and department.
- Communicate performance and reliability metrics, trends and findings to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
- Technical support of regulatory programs including FERC, NERC, RTO/ISOs and Transmission Owners.
- Represent Urban Grid at industry events, conferences and within stakeholder groups.
Location: Position is local to Houston with a hybrid office policy. Position may require periodic travel for team meetings, events or determined on an as needed basis.
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related engineering science.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in engineering or a related field within the renewable energy industry.
- Strong knowledge of solar energy technology and operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions to complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational skills and able to shift and set new priorities in moment’s notice.
- Self-motivated, high energy, and has proven leadership skills in challenging environment.
- Excellent technical, analytical, computer, and oral and written communication skills. Strong in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Experience working with PVSyst or a related tool
- Experience in data analysis, statistical modeling and data visualization tools (e.g. Python, R, MATLAB, Power BI)
- Experience modeling failures using Weibull analysis or another statistical method
- Experience implementing failure mode and effects analysis or FRACAS method
- Regulatory compliance experience such as NERC
