National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), the nation’s oldest and largest national parks nonprofit advocate, has an exciting opportunity for a Grand Teton Senior Program Manager to join our Northern Rockies Regional Office. This position will report to the Northern Rockies Regional Director.
Grand Teton National Park, and the connected Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, is one of the world’s natural wonders, a crown jewel of the National Park System and a top priority for NPCA. Public policy established at Grand Teton affects the entire National Park System; likewise, decisions made within Grand Teton have impact throughout the larger ecosystem and the broader Northern Rockies Region. POSITION OVERVIEW:
Location: Jackson Hole Area, WY
Salary: $80,000-90,000 {GRADE N}
Work Status: Full-time

What You’ll Do:
The GTSPM will work in coordination with Northern Rockies and other NPCA staff to develop and execute programmatic campaign plans that identify and advance priority conservation issues impacting Grand Teton National Park. Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with stakeholders and decision makers to inform and support our advocacy positions is a foundational approach to our work in Grand Teton National Park, across the region and nationally.
The successful candidate will be a thoughtful, creative, strategic and inclusion-minded conservation leader with the demonstrated ability to co-create, implement and measure conservation victories and impact, in line with NPCA’s vision for the region and strategic plan. Key to the success of the GTSPM will be the ability to create and advance targeted, effective advocacy campaigns and to work effectively across a diverse set of partnerships, coalitions, organizations and stakeholders, at the local, state, regional and national level. Essential Functions:
Grand Teton Landscape Conservation (65%); Develop and implement conservation priority campaigns to preserve the natural and cultural values of Grand Teton National Park and the adjacent landscape, in coordination with NPCA’s NRRO leadership.
o Wildlife habitat protection, restoration and connectivity across park boundaries
o Land management and NEPA processes
o Climate resilience and adaptation
o Recreation/visitation use and management
o Park infrastructure and other development projects within the park
o Park-wide management plans
o Large landscape conservation, across multiple private and public land-use jurisdictions
o Natural and cultural resource protection and interpretation
Leadership (20%); Oversee and lead Grand Teton Field Office (GTFO).
o Serve as NPCA liaison to the Wyoming delegation, targeted Congressional offices, elected officials, the administration and appropriate state and federal agency staff
o Represent NPCA throughout the Grand Teton landscape, including but not limited to meetings, events, negotiations, collaborative groups and media outreach.
o Represent NRRO on national NPCA leadership teams, ensuring our local work is aligned with and integrated into national priority campaigns
o Support NPCA’s national priorities at the local, state, regional and national level, including climate change and landscape conservation
o Work with NRRO RD and AD to develop and manage GTFO annual budget
o Manage and mentor GTFO interns, fellows, consultants and volunteers
Development and fundraising (15%) Help to maintain a well-funded and sustainable NRRO/GTFO in partnership with NRRO team and NPCA development staff.
o Assist in development and implementation of fundraising strategies
o Develop and steward local donor relationships, in partnership with development staff
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of demonstrated success in designing, managing, implementing and assessing advocacy, issue, political, policy and/or place-based strategies and campaigns that drive change at the local, regional, state or federal level, and preferably with respect to conservation, climate change, and/or environmental policy.
- Proven track record of managing interns, consultants and volunteers
- Deep understanding of and continued curiosity regarding the social and political dynamics of the Grand Teton region, or of a culturally/environmentally similar region/ecosystem.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate equitably, inclusively and effectively on a diverse, cross-functional team to ensure the advancement of shared goals.
- Proven success as an inclusive partner, capable of meaningful engagement with communities of color, particularly Native American communities;
- Demonstrated experience building, maintaining and leveraging strong relationships, including but not limited to local, regional, national and tribal government officials, donors, and partner organizations.
- Demonstrated self-starter with strong time-management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and writing skills.
- Proficiency with computers, particularly with MS Word and Outlook preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to rent a vehicle.
Travel: Regional travel for meetings, events, and outreach (for example, meetings with National Park Service staff, local community leaders, donors and regional staff). Travel occasionally required for NPCA activities or functions, such as lobbying, retreats, etc.
