POSITION SUMMARY:
SWING SHIFT 4-10hr shifts Wed thru Saturday 1pm to 11pm
Diesel Mechanic III is responsible for maintenance and repair of heavy-duty diesel equipment and services. Must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment. Certifications from OEM’s in the trucking and heavy equipment
industry, completion of manufactures on-line training, ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment, access technical information via the internet and a Commercial Driver’s License are valued in prospective technicians. Onsite training is provided to technicians to help them
improve their skills and technicians are expected to keep current on training.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Delegate and oversee work assignments of Technician I and Technician II
Communicates the status of repairs with other dept’s
Ability to prioritize repairs based on safety related items and scheduling
Able to work with newer employee’s
Does not require direct supervision to accomplish tasks
Identifies areas to improve efficiency
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Advanced knowledge of engines, transmissions, differential, A/C, suspensions, final drives, swing drives and hydraulics.
• Determine unit condition by conducting inspections & diagnostic test, identifying deficiencies.
• Perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
• Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications; make necessary adjustments if required.
• Maintains cost efficiency by using warranty; evaluating service & parts options.
• Maintains vehicle and equipment records with accurate documentation of service and repairs.
• Develop technical skills through training opportunities.
• Prompt daily attendance on scheduled workdays.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area.
• Complies with applicable safety standards and regulations.
• Adhere to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Be part of the On call rotation
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Able to efficiently enter data into various computer systems (Email, QuickBooks, etc.)
• Advanced mechanical repair skills.
• Ability to read service and repair manuals.
• Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
• Ability to read work orders.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AA Diesel Technology required.
• OEM Certification and/or ASE certifications are preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
• Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift-up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
• Good vision to inspect repair work.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

Location:
We are in Mount Vernon just north of Highway 20 in the beautiful Skagit Valley. The site is a fully operational Construction & Demolition recycling center which has frequent traffic, dust, and noise.
