We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic III to maintain and repair heavy-duty diesel equipment. This role requires expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various types of machinery. Ideal candidates will have experience with electronic diagnostic equipment, access to technical information via the internet, and hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Certifications from OEMs in the trucking and heavy equipment industries and completion of manufacturer’s online training are highly valued.
Onsite training is provided to further enhance your skills, and we expect technicians to stay up-to-date with training opportunities to continue improving. We are particularly interested in candidates based in or around Bellingham, as we have several northern locations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Advanced knowledge of engines, transmissions, differentials, A/C systems, suspensions, final drives, swing drives, and hydraulics.
- Inspect and diagnose equipment, identifying deficiencies and recommending repairs.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Test equipment post-repair to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications, making adjustments as needed.
- Maximize cost efficiency by utilizing warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
- Maintain accurate records of services and repairs.
- Participate in ongoing training to develop technical skills.
- Ensure timely and consistent attendance on scheduled workdays.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces and equipment.
- Comply with all safety standards and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient with computers and able to enter data into systems like QuickBooks and email.
- Advanced mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend service and repair manuals.
- Capable of performing repairs in a timely manner.
- Ability to read and follow work orders.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate Degree in Diesel Technology is required.
- OEM and/or ASE certifications are preferred.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work safely in a noisy environment with various odors present.
- Regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to inspect vehicles to assess repairs needed.
- Good vision for inspecting repair work.
- Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

We are located in Mount Vernon, just north of Highway 20 in the beautiful Skagit Valley. Our site is a fully operational Construction & Demolition Recycling Center, featuring frequent traffic, dust, and noise typical of a busy industrial environment.
