SA Recycling, a recognized industry leader in the metal recycling industry, is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual for the Fleet and Equipment Maintenance Supervisor position to support our Atlanta-Wells Street Yard.
Our Fleet and Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, in partnership with the General Manager (GM) are responsible for all aspects of the maintenance functions for metal recycling facility and equipment such as Truck Fleet, Roll Off, trailers and maintaining all mobile equipment. This position will include routine maintenance checks, preventative measures, and addressing mechanical issues as they arise, ensuring optimal functionality and safety standards are upheld; often requiring knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostic tools, and the ability to maintain detailed repair records.
Job Duties include but not limited to:
- Preventative Maintenance: Performing routine inspections on vehicles and equipment like checking fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, brakes, and battery conditions, following established maintenance schedules.
- Diagnostic Repairs: Identifying mechanical issues through troubleshooting and utilizing diagnostic tools to pinpoint problems with engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and other components.
- Repair Work: Assist with completing repairs on various vehicle systems including engine tune-ups, oil changes, brake replacements, suspension adjustments, electrical repairs, and fluid replacements.
- Part Replacement: Ordering and installing necessary parts to fix malfunctions, including tires, filters, belts, hoses, and other components
- Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed maintenance logs, documenting repair details, parts used, and work hours on each vehicle or piece of equipment using in house computer programs to generate equipment service and inspection due lists
- Compliance: Adhering to safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and environmental standards while performing maintenance tasks.
Must have Skills:
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of automotive and heavy equipment mechanics, including engine systems, electrical circuits, and hydraulics.
- Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot vehicle problems.
- Hand Tool Proficiency: Ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with vehicle manufacturers' service manuals and repair procedures.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to inspections and repairs to ensure quality work.
- Physical Ability: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks like lifting heavy parts, climbing under vehicles, and working in confined spaces.
- Motivates, organizes, and maintains multiple shop staff's productivity.
- Oversees compliance in maintaining region's maintenance parts, supplies, and schedules.
- Utilizes Microsoft Excel and Word programs to prepare reports and analyze data
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or GED; bachelor’s or associate degree in a related field of study preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience maintenance experience in the scrap metal or related industry.
- 3 years of progressively responsible management experience in leading fast paced and diverse operations.
- A comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, PLC’s and large motor subsystems.
- Ability and willingness to work in an outdoor environment and in all types of weather.
- Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mentality.
- Must pass a required Physical and Drug Screen
- Must pass Background screening
