Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The Global Electrification & Battery Systems team is at the forefront of GM’s transformation to the future of transportation. We are seeking a highly motivated, forward thinking, an innovative Engineering Manager with a balance of strategic and tactical skills, to join this dynamic environment and help move us forward to achieve GM’s Zero, Zero, Zero mission. You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to execute new designs in Propulsion System Architecture. The successful candidate will have a strong background in battery pack engineering, electric vehicles, a passion for sustainable energy solutions, and a commitment to advancing battery technology.
What You'll Do
Provide leadership to ensure excellence in all aspects of GM and supplier Battery Pack Engineering:
Functional, performance and safety requirements are met
Flawless design, integration, and collaboration with the Execution, ATW, and vehicle teams (ATW – Balanced Architecture – Execution)
Mass, cost, quality, reliability, durability and serviceability targets are met
Balanced Architecture / Engineering deliverables occur on time & with quality
Lead and manage an engineering team in the design of cutting-edge battery architecture and packs
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in battery technology to inform strategic decisions
Recruit, attract and hire top talent
Train, develop, coach, and mentor employees
Provide clear line of sight from organizational objectives to individual contributions; direct and prioritize work accordingly
Create an environment that fosters a positive and inclusive culture and encourages individuals to achieve their peak performance and engagement
Strive to create a workplace of choice, where employees are excited to work, and the customer is at the center of everything we do
Provide candid, specific performance and behavior feedback; address areas of concern in a timely manner

Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
7+ years of engineering experience in all phases of product development from initiation to launch
Previous experience in electric propulsion and HV battery systems
Proven track record of leading projects and people (directly or indirectly), with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated organization and planning capability, with the ability to quickly identify and remove roadblocks and escalate as appropriate
Strong problem-solving ability, with capability to clearly define problems, determine root cause and develop well thought out alternatives to support the decision-making process
Excellent conflict resolution skills, with proven capability to balance technical and business needs
Strong collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and support timely decision making
Ability to manage multiple assignments with a high level of composure and proven results
DFSS black belt
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Masters in Engineering or Management
Prior people leader experience
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to battery safety and performance.
Awareness of current trends and advancements in battery technology and electric vehicle markets.
Previous experience working in Battery architecture or battery packs
Knowledge of GM engineering processes, tools, and vehicle / propulsion development processes
