The Opportunity...
- Help implement outreach strategies via canvassing and community engagement to increase the number of LMI clients served in the Denver Metro area and surrounding areas.
- Help promote community awareness of GRID Alternatives’ work and mission by researching, attending, and potentially speaking at community events, tabling, and meetings.
- Assist outreach team with program awareness (including but not limited to residential rooftop programs and workforce development programs)
- Other job duties as assigned: may include office administrative work, data entry, file management, answering homeowner questions, talking to media and generally participating in activities necessary to make solar happen for low-income families
- Assist the Outreach department in meeting/exceeding annual goals, including development and fundraising activities
- Supporting the Outreach team with program marketing efforts for solar installation, workforce development, and clean mobility programs.
What you need to bring to this role…
- Availability for a 3-month commitment, 40 hours a week
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in diverse settings: outdoors, community spaces and events, installation sites, etc.
- Ability to relate to and respect diverse populations (including, but not limited to LMI, BIPOC, justice-involved, unhoused, etc.)
- Interest in and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, green jobs, and/or uplifting families and communities that have been historically underserved
- Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and energy to a rapidly evolving organization
- MUST live in the Denver metro area
- Some experience with computers and MS Office; G-Suite, and Salesforce platforms a plus
- MUST hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and have reliable transportation to and from work, including the GRID CO office and/or various build locations across counties.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required
- Comfortable with public speaking and making presentations in English and Spanish
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written, ability to meet with partner organizations, and be a positive ambassador for GRID Alternatives)
It would be great if you also had…
- Previous volunteer experience or Outreach experience
- Previous customer service, sales, or public-facing experience
- Professional or lived experience with BIPOC communities and understanding of Denver's (and neighboring counties’) cultural demographics.
- Some knowledge of solar energy and energy-conservation practices (or a strong willingness to learn!)
- Experience serving LMI communities and non-traditional students with diverse backgrounds including BIPOC, LMI, justice-involved, unhoused, etc.
Where you will sit & the places you may go…
GRID Alternatives provides vehicles for work travel, and due to current COVID-19 guidelines, we may also require limited personal vehicle use. In the latter instance, GRID will provide travel reimbursement for work-related personal vehicle use in accordance with our payroll schedule and policies. Additionally, all applicants will need a valid driver’s license and good driving record to be considered.

This is a PAID 90 day internship position. Hourly pay is $19.50.
