JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Biologist, GS- 0401-11 working in New Franken, WI for the R3-Green Bay Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Maintain and operate sophisticated automated fish tagging systems on salmon and trout at state and federal hatcheries as directed. Serves as team leader for seasonal and permanent technical staff to insure high tag and mark quality, tracts and records their time and reports it accurately and on time to the Admin officer and Branch Supervisor, and tracks their movements while on the job to insure safety. Implement approved standard operating procedures that efficiently and uniformly achieve tagging project objectives and high levels of QA/QC, insures safe operations, insures proper operation and repair of tagging and recovery equipment, oversee recovery and CWT lab samples, and monitor CWT and recovery data in a timely fashion per program needs. Assists with tag and recovery field operations and training when required. Performs summary data analysis and results form the tag and data recovery phase as required or directed, and leads such efforts on teams to report tagging project results in reports and in peer-reviewed papers in the primary literature.
