JOB SUMMARY: This position is part of the Department of Energy, Office of Science, Office of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfers (STTR). As a Supervisory Physical Scientist, you will coordinate outreach activities for the programs, commercialization assistance activities for small businesses, and manages the annual solicitation, review, funding, and award activities. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Supervisory Physical Scientist, you will: Serve as Director for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfers (STTR) Programs Office managing and coordinating outreach activities for the programs, commercialization assistance activities for small businesses, and manages the annual solicitation, review, funding, and award activities. Direct the development, initiation, and implementation of organization specific plans, procedures, and scientific analysis related to the management, operation, and overall well-being of the organization's science research and business programs. Manage the development and promulgation of specific policy that supplements Department of Energy requirements in areas related to the office including policy for the determination of research focus areas, proposal review and selection, technology transfer, commercialization assistance, and adherence to all relevant guidelines and directives. Provide supervision and subject matter expertise to support Office of Science programs, site offices, and the field on issues pertaining to the conduct of assessments and reviews (e.g., funding allocation, research management, and contract management), and issues related to Federal policy directives and legislation. Supervise a team of scientific and administrative personnel implementing the mission of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs as well as the wider missions of the Department of Energy.
