JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Biologist, GS-0401-11 working in Bloomington, MN for the Region 3 - Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. The duties of this position are that of a Fish and Wildlife Biologist (Community Engagement Manager). MAJOR DUTIES: As a Biologist who specializes as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist (Community Engagement Manager) your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Develops and maintains partnerships with local communities, private organizations, Tribal entities, special interest groups, and State and local agencies to build support for conservation and enhance stewardship of natural resources throughout and beyond the Refuge/Wetland Management District. Leads the work to design and implement processes to evaluate community engagement, working with other staff and consultants. Updates, prioritizes, manages, and/or utilizes systems for measuring community engagement efforts and tracking public outreach and education initiatives to connect people to nature. Applies and models the principles of the FWS Urban Program, including knowing and relating to the community, building partnerships, and being a community asset to support the FWS mission of working with others to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. Leads efforts to mentor the next generation of conservation professionals by supporting Minnesota Valley NWR and WMD intern and apprentice programs. Supervises the Internship Coordinator position, creates various work plans, and organizes projects to provide career development opportunities and a wide range of learning opportunities for high school, secondary, and post-secondary interns and apprentices.
