The Opportunity:
BluMetric (BLM) is currently seeking a Water/Wastewater Process Engineer/Specialist for the Ottawa, Ontario office reporting to the Lead Process Engineer. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and technical skills and will need to possess strong communication and organizational skills to be involved with many projects simultaneously.
Job Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Preparation of process design and equipment specifications.
- Leverage strong fundamental engineering principles including but not limited to Solubility, volatility, physical/chemical treatment processes, hydraulics/fluid mechanics, acid/base chemistry, biological treatment processes, mathematics, chemical handling/laboratory practices.
- Work with a minimum of instructions and complete tasks independently.
- Manage multi-discipline projects and clients.
- Coordination with various departments and disciplines required for project implementation.
- Industrial and Commercial field reviews.
- Write and review technical reports, and construction specifications.
- Examine available chemistry and flow data, will collate the data, and will compare the data against discharge limits and site requirements.
- Design a treatment process that will achieve discharge limits.
- Creation of assembly/process flow charts or supervision of supplier assembly flow charts creation for manufacturing or rework activities.
- Work with the rest of the proposal/project team to generate a proposal/ engineering package.
- Will run the in-house proprietary design programs to confirm sizing, draft a P&I D, and create a bill of materials.
- Support the sales effort by attending sales presentations and providing additional technical support to the proposal development team.
- Conduct technical reviews of proposals and engineering packages, and will sign and stamp reports, design briefs, and drawings as required.
Key Qualifications, Education, and Skills:
- Degree in process or chemical engineering from an accredited school and Professional Engineer in Ontario, other provinces/states a benefit.
- Five (5) to Ten (10) years of working on industrial projects in the water/ wastewater field; mining industry experience is key.
- Demonstrate expertise with the use of CADD and other standard scientific and engineering applications.
- Ability to physically implement designs.
- The ability to interact, be able to work in a project team environment with all types of clients and teammates; proactive and able to manage time well; able to build relationships.
- Ability to work and complete tasks independently, make decisions and take responsibility on technical matters.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs.
- Must be able to attend industrial sites and observe all applicable safety regulations.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Some travel may be required.
- Weekend work may be required.
- May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing.
- May be required to use PPE.
- Bilingual (French) would be an asset.

Salary Range: $76,000.00 - $93,000.00 (Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.)
