The Service Software team sits within the Turbine SW Organization in Vestas. The department is key for ensuring that our Software enables our Service Operations and Service Technicians to work efficiently, and that all aspects of Software related to service are addressed.
This team will consist of SW Development engineers and data analysts, with global responsibility, and with a very collaborative relationship with the Service Business Unit. The team will have the following focus areas:
- Working on advanced troubleshooting methods and Turbine Self-Diagnostics.
- Working on methods to increase Service Technician effectiveness and reduce turbine visits.
- Working on predictive maintenance both based on data from sensors to predict when service/maintenance is needed and learn from historical data to forecast potential failures before they happen.
- Improving design for serviceability in Software.
- Acting as main point of contact between Turbine Control Software and Service Business Unit, ensuring a joint development roadmap, aligned prioritization and value delivery towards Service.
- With the increase expected of Wind Turbine volumes, the importance of Service Operations in the overall lifecycle of wind farms is critical, and designing and implementing the right software solutions to support Service is an integral part of it, so this is a key role with high exposure and opportunities to grow.
Responsibilities
You will report to the VP of Turbine SW and will be responsible for both managing people and the technical area, having full control of your function. More specifically, your responsibilities will cover:
- Manage and supervise the software development team to deliver high-quality software solutions for your functional area.
- Run the Sub-Module department and be line manager for the team members
- Responsible for the involvement of all stakeholders for the Sub-Module across the entire Value Chain, as well as delivering the needed solutions and documentation within the scope of the Sub-Module.
- Responsible for delivering the module roadmap work-packages assigned to Sub Module.
- Full life-cycle management of the functional area from a Software perspective, including quality, overview of support, service feedback, fleet performance and technical debt.
- Have a good understanding of the technical domain under your responsibility together with the architecture and context of the submodule.
- Have, and drive, a clear submodule roadmap, constraints and boundaries to optimize work and maximize reusability across wind turbine platforms.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers
- Promote a collaborative and productive team culture.
Qualifications
- You have a bachelor's or master's degree within Software engineering or relevant education.
- More than 5 years professional experience in an embedded Software Team Leadership role.
- Significant experience in overseeing Software team members and solid experience in software development in C++.
- Understanding and experience with the Agile software development framework and skills in using Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Good communication skills in English.
- Global mindset and good cultural understanding.
