JOB SUMMARY: This Park Ranger (I) position is located in Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River in the Interpretation and Education Division. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River is April but can vary due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 6 or May 4, 2025. MAJOR DUTIES: Develops and presents interpretive programs to park visitors and youth groups both on-site and off-site with groups sizes ranging from 10 to 50. Staffs the Zane Grey Museum and provides informal interpretation on the western author as well as on the park. Operates the Eastern National sales outlet. Provides river safety talks and area and park information to park visitors. Performs roving interpretation by vehicle and foot at the public river accesses and area trails. Performs canoe patrols on the Upper Delaware River which include presenting water safety information to river recreationists and performing river rescues and assists. Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River is a unit of the National Park Service and is the northern waters of the longest undammed river in the Eastern United States. The park spans 73 miles and is comprised of 55,000 acres, of which 30 are federally owned. The start of the Upper Delaware flows just below Hancock, New York to the vicinity of Sparrowbush, New York, for approximately 73 miles. All services and community needs are available in Monticello, NY (about 22 miles) and Honesdale, PA (about 15 miles). Winters are generally mild as are summers with the average temperature in the summer ranging 80 degrees with some humidity and the average in the winter ranging 20 degrees.
