Legend Biotech is seeking Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Sr. Specialist as part of the Technical Operations team based in Raritan, NJ.
Role Overview
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Sr. Specialist role is an exempt level position with responsibilities for supporting the Environmental Health and Safety programs within a cell therapy manufacturing facility to support both clinical and commercial requirements in a sterile GMP environment. This role will support organizational build and help drive strong EHS culture, maintain regulatory compliance, and support site goals and objectives, metrics, reporting, performance, and training in areas of Environmental, Health, and Safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage facilities and warehouse related EHS programs
- Provide technical and regulatory support for chemical handling, biosafety, facilities-related safety, hazardous and biohazardous waste, and industrial hygiene
- Represent EHS in site Tier meetings
- Manage EHS inspection program. Drive implementing inspection action plans and closure
- Develop and review site SOPs and plans
- Develop and provide EHS training content through instructor-led training (ILT) and computer-based trainings (CBT). Ability to effectively deliver training to diverse audiences.
- Perform incident investigations and identify corrective actions.
- Support injury management program and support site medical surveillance program
- Coordinate the management of site waste disposal
- Facilitate Plant Safety Committee and provide technical assistance as needed
- Ability to perform Job Hazard Analyses
- Maintain EHS-related site Key Performance Indicators
- Maintain EHS-related records
- Help drive continuous improvement.
- Support site emergency response activities
- Works in a collaborative team setting with Plant counterparts that include Manufacturing Operations, Engineering and Facilities, Warehouse and Quality.
Requirements
- BS/BA required in technical discipline: Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Studies, Life Sciences, or similar field
- 5-7 years relevant EHS experience is required. It is preferable that the candidate have experience working in GMP and/or manufacturing facility
- Technical knowledge in local, state, and federal regulatory requirements as well as proposed regulatory or legislative changes at all levels includes, but is not limited to, EPA, OSHA DEP, while using guidance documents from NIOSH, ACGIH, NFPA, ANSI, ISO and policies, guidelines, and industry standards as applicable
- Must be knowledgeable on OSHA standard such as Control of Hazardous Energy, Electrical Safety, Confined Space, and Fall Protection
- Master’s degree (MS/MA) in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field is preferred
- GMP experience is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and analytical problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Flexible, highly motivated, with strong organization skills, ability to multitask with attention to detail
- Must be able to manage shifting priorities to meet critical deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic, growing environment
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Proficient with using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to gown into cleanrooms
- Ability to utilize respiratory protection
